The Bexar County Sheriff said an Uber driver was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman during a ride.

BEXAR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS UBER DRIVER FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

Luis Alberto Deleon Jr., 30, was arrested on Tuesday morning on charges of sexual assault, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) reported. Deleon is accused of sexually assaulting a 45-year-old woman during an Uber ride in February.

According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, Deleon picked up the victim from a bar in Thousand Oaks area and directed her to sit in the front seat. However, when the woman refused, Deleon took her to a remote location, got into the back seat, and sexually assaulted her. He then dropped her off nearby.

The victim reported the heinous crime to the San Antonio Police Department, who quickly identified Deleon as the driver. However, the case was later transferred to the BCSO as the crime occurred outside the city limits.

After weeks of investigation and an arrest warrant, Deleon was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday in downtown San Antonio. It was later revealed that Deleon was not currently serving as an officer in Leon Valley, though he had worked as a police officer there previously. KSAT attempted to contact the department but received no response.

Despite Deleon’s arrest, the BCSO is urging anyone with any information about other incidents involving Deleon to come forward. “We believe there’s a possibility that there may be other victims out there, and so we want to make sure that they get the help they need,” said Salazar.

In conclusion, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone that they take all reports of sexual assault seriously and are dedicated to pursuing justice on behalf of victims. Anyone with information about other incidents involving Deleon is asked to contact the BCSO at (210) 335-6070.
