It happened on January 11 at the couple’s home on the 200 block of Oak Hollow Boulevard in Waller County, Texas, near Magnolia.

The deputies reported that they found the mutilated body of the victim in a small residential building located behind the main house.

Detectives said Deakus gave a full confession during interrogation.

According to Waller Carbett County Judge J. Duhon III, he married Deakus and the victim last fall.

On his Facebook page, he posted the following message:

“I’m sure many of you have heard of yesterday’s incident in Oak Hollow, Waller County, in which a young man was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife. This concerned a young couple that I married in October 2022. for a short time with them, they were a very good young couple. Like many of you, I am very saddened and shocked to hear of this tragic event, and I pray with all their families. Out of respect for the families, I removed my photo with the couple and the post announcing their wedding, primarily due to the tactless nature of some of the comments that were made on the post. This case will now be brought to our court system and I am confident that the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and the Waller County District Attorney’s Office will ensure that justice is served.”
