Texas Court of Appeals Reopens Jerry Jones Sexual Harassment Claim

A Texas Court of Appeals overturned a decision to dismiss a lawsuit against Jerry Jones from a woman who alleged that the owner of the Dallas Cowboys “kissed her on the lips and forcibly grabbed her without her consent.”

The injury lawsuit alleges that the incident took place in September 2018 in Tom Landry’s room at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The lawsuit, from the defendant identified only by the initials JG, seeks damages for “past and future physical pain and mental suffering, past and future severe psychological pain and suffering, past and future emotional suffering, and past and future medical expenses.”

The appeals court decision on Monday sends the 2020 lawsuit back to Dallas County District Court, which dismissed the case last February.

Lawyers for Jones have previously argued that details such as the name of the woman who filed the lawsuit and the exact location of the alleged incident remain on hold.

The woman’s lawyers later emailed her name to the defendants’ lawyers and amended the lawsuit to state that the alleged incident took place in the Landry Room.

In February 2022, a district court judge dismissed the case.

“Because appellant made a good-faith attempt to amend her pleadings in response to the court’s special exception order, and no further special exception was made, the trial court abused its discretion in dismissing appellant’s claims,” appeals court judge Amanda Reichek said in her ruling. on Monday.

The case is now back in Dallas County District Court.
