Suspects steal $30,000 worth of rebar from construction site in San Marcos: police

Officials are asking the public for help in identifying those involved in the theft of thousands of dollars of rebar from a construction site in San Marcos.

On Christmas Day, unknown suspects stole about $30,000 worth of rebar from the scene with a semi-trailer and two trucks acting as lookouts.

Possibly an early 2000s Volvo VNL64T630 semi-automatic that is missing the right side of the front bumper. The trailer had rebar on it prior to its arrival, officials said, possibly indicating previous thefts in other jurisdictions.

The semi-trailer was accompanied by a black understated Chevrolet Silverado and a white Ford F series.

Anyone with information about this incident, the suspects, or their whereabouts is asked to anonymously contact Hays County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-324-TIPS (8477), online, or using the P3 Tips app on a smartphone.
