Suspect in New York forced a young woman to go to the stairwell and raped her: police

NYC police are looking for a man who raped a 21-year-old woman in a stairwell on Saturday.

The sexual assault took place in a building near West 65th Street and West End Avenue around 1:00 am.

According to police, the man allegedly followed the young woman into the building and into the elevator.

The suspect then forced the victim out of the elevator and into the stairwell, where he raped her.

According to the NYPD, the rape suspect was caught on surveillance video as he threw away his jacket.

After the rape, the suspect removed his jacket from the security camera. The attacker then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

The attacker is believed to be 5ft 8in and in his 30s.
