Super Bowl LVII: Both quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are from Texas.

Super Bowl LVII may not be held in Texas, but both starting quarterbacks for the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will represent the Lone Star State.

Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is from Tyler, Texas, while Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles is from Houston.

The Eagles, who won the Super Bowl five years ago with a different coach and quarterback (Nick Fowles, also from Texas), will try to do it again behind the formidable duo of Hurts and coach Nick Sirianni. Meanwhile, Mahomes will be looking to earn his second Super Bowl championship after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in 2019.

Mahomes, who also graduated from Texas Tech University, was also awarded the Super Bowl MVP award for his play, becoming the second black quarterback to win the award and the youngest overall.

On the other hand, Hurts, who graduated from Channelview High School, has many goals, especially after noting on Sunday that the Eagles’ decision to select him in the 2020 draft was widely criticized by journalists and fans.

Herts began his NFL career in 2020 as an all-round QB after the Eagles took him in the second round. Playing for Carson Wentz, Hurts made 12 rushes, one catch, and only three passes in his first nine games before becoming Philadelphia’s quarterback.

“My first year here (people) probably didn’t even want to draft me here,” Herts said Sunday. “Probably it was one of those things. But it always resolves itself.”

Neither the Hurts nor the Mahomes celebrated their conference championships much. The top goal for every quarterback is to get one more win, but either way, Texas gets its W.
