Street signs with Korean translation installed in parts of Dallas

City of Dallas leaders joined the Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce on Friday to unveil updated street signs with Korean translation.

The changes affected the area in northwest Dallas, home to the largest Korean-American community in Texas.

The signs were installed at the intersection of Newkirk Street, Royal Lane and Harry Hines Boulevard.

The opening celebrates Korean American Day on Friday and the contributions of the Korean community here in Dallas.

“Forty years ago, our generation of immigrants occupied a poor industrial area and steadily started building a Korean business right there. Today, their hard work is proudly recognized here,” said John Lee, board member of the Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber. Trade.

Korean American Day commemorates the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States in 1903.
