An arrest statement obtained by FOX 4 provides new insight into what police believe led to the murder of Kayla Kelly, whose boyfriend Ocastor Ferguson is accused of killing her.

Kelly went missing on 11 January and her body was found in a field near Ferguson’s home in Grande Prairie on 18 January.

According to Ferguson’s arrest affidavit, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office learned during initial interrogations that Kelly had recently discovered that her boyfriend named “Kevin” was married.

According to the document, Kelly told friends that she was going to “blackmail” him.

Collin County investigators say they soon identified “Kevin” as Ocastor Ferguson.

According to the affidavit, Ferguson’s wife recently stated that her car was stolen. Investigators found the car near Kelly’s home.

In the car, they found duct tape and gloves.

On January 13, investigators spoke to Ferguson, who admitted to dating Kelly but said he last saw her on Tuesday when he gave her a ride to work. According to the affidavit, Ferguson told investigators that she did not return to pick him up as they had planned.

On January 14, analysis of Ferguson’s phone records revealed he was in the Frisco area, where investigators found Kelly’s burned-out car on a county dead-end dirt road.

Ferguson was arrested the same day for kidnapping.

According to the document, a deeper analysis of Ferguson’s phone records showed that he left work on January 10 and went to a wooded area near his home in Grande Prairie.

Investigators then traveled to the area and found Kelly’s body in a shallow grave.

According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, Kelly’s cause of death is still unknown.

Investigators say cell phone records also indicate that Ferguson was in the area of ​​Kelly’s burned-out car in Frisco, and that CCTV footage shows smoke in the early hours of the morning.

The records then state that “Ferguson was given a lift from the Travel Service” to his home in Grande Prairie.

Ferguson was charged with kidnapping, arson and murder.

He is currently in the Collin County Jail.
