Slicing wind disrupts North Texas plans for Valentine’s Day

Strong wind on Tuesday put a damper on some Valentine’s Day plans.

IN Addison Airport, love was not in the air. 50 mph winds and stronger small planes on the ground, including romantic flights on Valentine’s Day.

Starlight Flights pilot Davis Snell had to disappoint several couples and reschedule their flights to a later time.

“We have to put people’s safety and comfort ahead of earnings, and with wind like this, we’re not going anywhere,” Snell said.

At the roadside parking lot Dallas, the owners rushed to defend their bouquet. The winds nearly ripped off a tent designed to protect their produce.

Outside the party town in Irving, customers found themselves in a furious battle with balloons. The piercing wind made it difficult to load balloons into cars. Some customers have watched their newly purchased balloons fly away.

One mom hoping to surprise her daughter with 20 balloons for the holidays called it a warm-up.

“It’s about 15 calories and I’m out of breath,” said Darion Brown. “It was very hard.”
