Rosenberg Police: Suspect charged in fatal Galveston golf cart accident arrested again

ROSENBERG, Texas. Rosenberg police said a man accused of driving under the influence of alcohol in Galveston that killed four people in August 2022 has been taken into custody after violating bail.

Miguel Espinosa faces four counts of manslaughter while intoxicated in Galveston County. Police said as part of the terms of the bail, Espinoza must install a blocking breathalyzer on any vehicle he drives.

The Rosenberg Police Department said its traffic department found Espinoza driving a car without a lockout device. According to police, the police took him into custody for driving a car with an invalid license and passed information about the bail violation to Galveston County.

What’s happened

Four people, including two children, were killed on August 6, 2022, when three cars collided with a golf cart.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on 33rd Street, a few blocks from Seawall Boulevard.

Sergeant Derek Gaspard of the Galveston police said all four victims were in the golf cart.

The adult golf cart driver died at the scene. The adult female passenger and two children in the golf cart were taken to the hospital, where all three later died.

Police said a black Hyundai SUV driven by Espinoza failed to stop at the intersection of Avenue R and 33rd Street, crashing into a golf cart and a black Dodge truck.

In September, a bartender was also arrested for allegedly overdoing Espinosa on the night of the plane crash.
