Presidential candidate Nikki Haley criticized Trump supporters at CPAC: “We love Trump!”

Presidential candidate Nikki Haley has come under fire from supporters of former President Donald Trump following her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday.

Haley, a former governor of South Carolina and a former ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, announced her candidacy for president last month and will challenge her former boss for the 2024 Republican nomination.

Her CPAC speech on Friday was delivered to a small crowd of Republican attendees. And as she left after her speech, Trump supporters began to yell at her, praising the former president.

“We love Trump! We love Trump!” The crowd could be heard cheering as Hayley walked through the corridors of a hotel in National Harbor, Maryland, where the Conservatives’ annual meeting was being held.

Some Haley supporters have responded to the shouts of Trump supporters with shouts of “Hailey!”

Hayley eventually fled with the staff to the elevator after signing a few autographs and taking selfies with some of the CPAC attendees.

Haley was one of two declared Republican presidential candidates and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy who gave speeches at CPAC on Friday. The gathering was also addressed by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is expected to begin his re-election campaign in the near future. The former president is due to speak on Saturday.

In recent years, the CPAC crowd has been overwhelmingly Trump supporters, as evidenced by the CPAC straw polls taken at the end of each annual conference.

A recent WPA Intelligence poll found Haley ranked third in support in a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary, with 8% of people choosing her as their preferred candidate. In the poll, Haley fell far behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was supported by 44%, and Trump, who was favored by 31% of respondents.

The noise of the crowd during Haley’s speech, while underwhelming, was at its loudest when she called for an end to foreign aid to “countries that hate America.”
