People are officially selling cans of Tom Brady Sand and One Might Go for over $100,000

The word fanatic comes from the word fanatic, and few stories better illustrate these etymological roots than this one.

Tom Brady, a recently retired NFL quarterback, has apparently built up quite a loyal following over his 23-year career.

It’s easy to see why so many football fans have been drawn to Brady. The man knew how to win (despite some failures) – and did it on a historical paper clip.

Brady is the only player in NFL history to win seven Super Bowls – literally more than any single NFL franchise.

Even so, it’s hard to imagine that he spent six figures on sand that Brady may or may not have come into contact with.

To get back: On Wednesday, Brady announced his retirement via a video posted to social media:

Eagle-eyed fans have actually tracked down the location where Brady recorded this video using the buildings in the background.

Would you buy a can of Tom Brady sand?

These amateur sleuths were helped by a report from the Miami Herald, which confirmed that Brady recorded the video at “Surfside Beach, just over a mile from the village of Indian Creek, where he and his then-wife Gisele Bündchen bought the property in 2020.”

One enterprising fan used this information to track down a seaside location and purchased some sand.

This fan then submitted it to eBay, where the price has reached a whopping $99,900 at the time of this writing, with eight days to go to auction.

Of course, the idea caught on like wildfire.

One eBay listing for Tom Brady sand is worth $17,999.

Another bottle of sand costs $24,012.12.

A much more reasonably priced bottle of retirement sand sells for “as little as” $2,000.

Brady, meanwhile, appears to have actually hung up his boots after his fake pension only lasted 40 days last year.

At the other end of his NFL career, a hefty fee awaits him from Fox, which Brady will join as a football analyst after signing a whopping $375 million contract.

Maybe Brady would be interested in buying retirement sand? With those prices rising, he’ll be one of the few who can afford it.
