Parkland’s father: ‘DeSantis ignores what gun violence does to his staff’

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida. A father who lost his son in the 2018 Parkland massacre shared his fears after the announcement that Florida could be the 26thth state to pass a constitutional law on the carrying of weapons.

“Constitutional Transfer” in essence, it is the right to covertly carry a loaded weapon anywhere without permits, training, or a state license.

Palm Coast Republican House Speaker Paul Renner announced the filing of a bill that has already been approved by the Florida Sheriffs Association.

Eligible owners will still be able to obtain the permit required for legal carry in states with stricter gun laws.

Gun control advocates, including the parents of Parkland shooting victims such as Manuel Oliver, are concerned that the bill will increase gun violence.

“It all happens two weeks before the fifth anniversary of the Parkland shooting when my son was shot four times with a legally purchased AR-15 with a background check on the shooter,” Oliver said. “So I think it’s a slap in the face for me.”

The bill is expected to pass if Republicans win overwhelming majority votes in the House and Senate.
