Parents abandon child at airport check-in due to confusion with baby ticket: police

Israeli police detained two travelers with Belgian passports after airport officials saw the couple abandon their child while checking in at the airport.

Parents arrived in Tel Aviv. Ben Gurion Airport to catch a Ryanair flight to Brussels, but they were late and check-in had already closed. It remains unclear whether the parents could not or simply refused to pay for another ticket for their child, as they arrived without him.

Hoping to pass security checks and get to the flight on time, parents just abandoned the child on a conveyor belt in the check-in area, according to local news outlet Channel 12.

Ryanair employees told N12 that everyone was shocked. “We have never seen anything like it,” said one manager.

“We couldn’t believe what we saw.”
