Suspect Arrested in Brutal 2022 Bronx Victims Double Murder Found in Burning Car

Police have arrested one of the suspects wanted in connection with a horrific double homicide in 2022 that left two 22-year-olds dead and their bodies found in a burning car in the Bronx, investigators say.

In a case that has haunted two families for nearly a year, the remains of victims Nikki Huang and Jesse Parilla were discovered after firefighters put out a May 16 car fire on Shore Road in Pelham Bay Park, near the Pelham Split golf course. rock. Well. Police said both Juan and Parilla, who lived in Manhattan, were shot in the head and other parts of the body before being set on fire.

Investigators said Parilla gave Juan a ride in a Honda Accord to his mother when they tried to recover her stolen handbag. During the autopsy on their bodies, in addition to gunshot wounds, extensive burns were found.

On Tuesday, police arrested Jamel Sanders after a months-long manhunt. Sanders now faces 17 charges as police linked him to the kidnapping, robbery and murder of Juan and Parilla. Sanders, 30, did not answer questions from reporters when police escorted him out of the station in handcuffs.

Three people have been arrested in the case, and police are still looking for Steven Santiago, 34 (below).



Police said there were no signs of an accident before the sedan caught fire. The relationship between the victims was not clear, nor was their potential connection to the suspects.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact police. There is now a $10,000 reward being offered for information leading to Santiago’s arrest.
