Officials condemn racist language used in video from Grande Prairie High School.

GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSNewsTexas.com) – The superintendent of the Grand Prairie Independent School District vowed to “thoroughly investigate” a video obtained earlier this week that showed disturbing manifestations of racism in a high school.

The video, which was filmed at Dubisky High School, shows several students saying the n-word out loud in front of other students and write an insult on a banner with the word hate next to it. During the 36-second clip, the insult is spoken out and repeated several times.

GPISD Superintendent Linda Ellis said in a March 14 statement that the video is not representative of the school or district. She promised a full investigation as soon as the staff returned from spring break next week.

“Let me be very clear, we do not endorse the language or behavior that is depicted in this video,” Ellis said. “We are thoroughly investigating this situation and will bring those responsible to justice.”

GPISD Council President Gloria Carillo also issued a statement saying she was “concerned and dismayed by the offensive video posted recently by some of our students.”

“As a community representative and president of the GPISD board of trustees, I know this video does not represent Dubiski Career High School or ISD Grand Prairie,” she continued.

“I have full confidence that our superintendent and her staff will fully investigate this matter and take appropriate action to bring those responsible to justice.”
