37 minutes. That’s how long it took a Fort Mill paramedic to get out of jail after he was arrested by the CMPD and accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old patient. He was released on $15,000 unsecured bail. What message are we sending to the most vulnerable… in our society? I look forward to continuing to work on the Pre-Trial Fairness Act to increase accountability for pre-trial release conditions.

WCNC reported Jennings is working with lawmakers to develop a “Pretrial Integrity Act” that would “change the way bail is given so that suspects can’t get away so quickly.”

Tim McMichael, Fort Mill’s chief of emergency services, said the agency would conduct its own investigation into the incident, WCNC reported.
