Police said a New Jersey man is suspected of shooting his wife and two children Sunday morning before shooting himself.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims of the apparent murder-suicide at Linden in Union County.
According to PIX11, the children were 8 and 14 years old.
One of the children initially survived the gunshot but was later pronounced dead at University Hospital in Newark, Linden police said in a statement.
There is no threat to the population, said Linden police spokesman Captain Christopher Günther after the killings.
“Another tragedy happened in Linden this morning,” Linden Mayor Derek Armstead wrote in a Facebook post. “There are simply no words to describe the trauma, heartbreak and grief that we all go through.”
