On Sunday, local authorities said a New Jersey doctor faces criminal charges for having sexual encounters involving female patients.

In a joint statement, Middlesex District Attorney Yolanda Ciccone and Perth Amboy Police Department Chief Lawrence Cattano announced that Colony’s Dr. Gurvindra Johal was arrested on Saturday on two counts of criminal sex.

The allegations stem from an investigation involving women alleging that Johal, a medical practitioner at the Perth Amboy Emergency Department, touched them inappropriately while under that care.

Information about Johal’s lawyer did not immediately become known.

The investigation is ongoing.
