Muhammad Khan arrested on charges of burglary of a mosque
FLOWER MOUND (CBSTexasNews) – Mohammed Khan, the man police say stole donations intended for victims of the Turkish-Syrian earthquake, has been arrested.
Khan was charged with three counts of burglary in connection with the 13 February theft. Surveillance video allegedly shows Khan breaking into the Masjid al-Noor Islamic school/mosque on Colony Road Peters that day.
Court records show Khan, a Virginia resident, was charged with a similar theft in Denton in 2021. Police said Khan broke into the donation boxes, was caught on video (again) and left a note. Faraz Qureshi, president of the board of the Islamic Society of Denton, said at the time that he stole between $4,000 and $6,000. As for the note…
“I think there was something like I need money and this is my number, please contact me,” Qureshi said.
Khan is due to appear in court next month for the incident in Denton County.
