Memphis Grizzlies beat Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night

Rookie David Roddy scored a career-high 24 points, including 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-108 112-108 on Saturday night.

Roddy hit 7 of 8 shots in the fourth, including 3 of 4 from outside the arc. Desmond Bain led the Grizzlies with 25 points while Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with 14 points.

Tim Hardaway Jr. leads the Mavericks with 23 points, while Jaden Hardy finished with 22 points. Josh Green added 21 points for Dallas.

Two of the NBA’s biggest stars, Luka Doncic of the Mavericks and Ja Morant of Memphis, were absent from the game. Doncic has a sprained left hip, and Morant left the team after posting a video last weekend showing him demonstrating a gun at a strip club in the Denver area.

This eliminated the top scorers from the two teams in the Western Conference. Then Kyrie Irving of Dallas came late with a right leg injury.

But Dallas stayed close in the first half despite Memphis scoring 55%. And the Mavericks will overtake Memphis in the third. Hardaway scored 13 points in a period that saw Dallas beat the Grizzlies 33–21.

And the Mavericks continued to increase their lead and opened fourth place.
