Joe Exotic wants to run for president in 2024. Yes, he is still in prison.

Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, also known as “Joe Exotic” and “Tiger King,” has announced his desire to run for president in 2024, according to the campaign’s website.

And yes, the former zookeeper is still in federal prison.

“Yes, I know I’m in federal prison and you might think this is a joke, but it’s not,” the site says. “It’s my constitutional right to do it even from here.”

The campaign letter details Maldonado’s personal life and criminal history. He said he wanted to target the country’s justice system.

“I was only put here because of the corruption in the Department of Justice, three criminals who were told how to lie under oath to advance this agenda,” the letter says.

“I am here because I have a worldwide platform to get these politicians to listen to your concerns and mine and give us some answers this time because all they are doing is lying to all of us, taking our hard earned money, calling them taxes, and giving them away. go to foreign countries, and they did not return anything to us, ”the letter says.

Maldonado-Passage was convicted in the case of animal rights activist Carole Baskin. The former zookeeper was accused of trying to hire two different people to kill Baskin.

Both were featured in the Netflix series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.

Maldonado-Passage, who maintains his innocence, was also found guilty of killing five tigers, selling cubs and falsifying wildlife records.

“The only thing I did was euthanize five very old crippled tigers in the most humane way possible, and that was approved by my USDA inspector, so it’s time to put up with it,” his campaign letter later continued.

He was sentenced to 21 years in prison, reducing his sentence by just a year despite pleas from a former zookeeper for leniency as he begins early cancer treatment.

Maldonado-Passage also targeted Baskin in a letter.

“Carol has killed over 226 big cats and most of you eat some animal every day, so it’s time to leave this problem behind,” the post reads.

The campaign website says it was paid for by the Joseph Maldonado Committee for a Free America. There is also the logo of the Libertarian Party at the bottom.

Maldonado-Passage, known for his blond mullet and YouTube expletives, appeared on John Oliver’s Tonight Last Week program when he was a presidential candidate in 2016.

The following year, he announced his candidacy as the Libertarian candidate for governor of Oklahoma, eventually coming in third in a three-way primary. During the campaign, his 23-year-old husband Travis Maldonado died after authorities said he accidentally shot himself in the head. Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes said at the time that witnesses reported that Maldonado held a loaded firearm to his head and pulled the trigger to prove the gun would not fire with the magazine removed.
