Is the weather unpredictable? Warm Up or Cool Down on North Texas’ Craziest Waterslide

Epic Waters Grand Prairie will unveil its new seven-story slide on Saturday, February 25th.

Grand Prairie, Texas. Who loves this unpredictable Texas weather?

Dallas Fort Worth saw sleet and freezing rain a couple of weeks ago, it was the 90s earlier this week, and it’s the 40s again this weekend with rain.

“I hate winter weather,” said Trey Mitchell.

However, not everyone feels this way.

“I like variety a bit,” Kyle Khan said. “However, it’s a little frustrating when you’re trying to plan your outfit.”

“This allows us to see all the seasons within a week,” added Michonne Wynne.

“But that’s how it is in Texas,” Jeremy Anchondo said.

However, for many people this can be frustrating. One day it’s hot, the other day it’s not.

“The weather can be terrible outside, but we always have the perfect 85 degrees inside,” said Michael Wampler, director of sales and marketing for Epic Waters Indoor Water Park in Grande Prairie.

Epic Waters is open all year round, whatever the weather.

Saturday at the water park will be something almost as crazy as the weather.

A new waterslide called Locura, which means “madness” in Spanish, will open to the public. This is the first new attraction Epic Waters has introduced since it opened five years ago.

Lokura is seven stories high, and once the riders are ready, the floor falls out from under them. The water park promises “Hair Raising Fun” to riders.

“Forty feet straight down, vertical drop,” Wampler said.

Wampler said there is no other waterslide in North Texas like Locura.

Riders reach speeds of up to 35 mph as they glide down a 360-degree loop before shooting down the bottom of the 387-foot slide.

Wampler said that no matter the weather, Locura and Epic Waters are a little piece of heaven in North Texas.

“There is always perfect weather at Epic Waters,” he said.
