Gov. Abbott Says Texas Border Wall Construction Continues

Texas has resumed construction of a wall along the state’s border with Mexico after several months of negotiations with private property owners.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott boasted about building a wall along the US-Mexico border on Sunday, posting a video on social media of the wall being built.

“Texas is building its own border wall,” the governor tweeted.

The video that accompanied the tweet showed a crane moving a section of the wall in line with several other panels while workers put it in place. Abbott was sitting in front, next to a sign that said “Frontier Guard”.

Footage of the wall’s construction was filmed on January 30, when Abbott held a press conference at the frontier to announce the appointment of veteran frontier guard Mike Banks as the first frontier czar in history.

Abbott criticized the Biden administration for the way the Biden administration enforces the border, which has seen a record number of illegal crossings since the president took office in January 2021.

In December, he also announced the resumption of construction of a wall along the state’s border with Mexico.

The announcement comes after months of negotiations between government officials and private owners, which resulted in an agreement to build infrastructure on their land.

The boundary wall project has been under development for months after the Texas Facilities Commission approved a $167 million contract with Southwest Valley Constructors Co. The project is designed to build an almost seven-mile border wall in the Del Rio area.

A second contract was also signed with Texas-based construction company BFBC to build a separate seven-mile wall in the Rio Grande Valley.
