GBBC joins UN BC100+ initiative
BC100+ is a global initiative under the high patronage of His Excellency Csaba Körösi, President of the 77th UN General Assembly, which aims to connect the blockchain ecosystem with broader efforts of UN agencies and global initiatives in support of the values of the UN Charter and the SDGs. by mapping global blockchain ecosystems for sustainable development.
BC100+ is an initiative that brings together many organizations from different sectors. The main goal of the initiative is to raise awareness of the potential of blockchain for social impact and sustainability. BC100+ explores the potential of blockchain technology to address systemic challenges such as inequality, poverty, and climate change by restoring trust, empowering communities, establishing accountability, and redistributing value at a global level. Through its core functions, blockchain technology can play a role in accelerating much-needed changes to our global food system, energy infrastructure, and protecting biodiversity, among other issues. In essence, BC100+ intends to facilitate qualitative discussion, raise awareness and clarify the role of blockchain in realizing the UN Charter Values and the 2030 Agenda.
In the coming years, the BC100+ initiative will develop a manifesto and conduct and participate in a series of online and in-person events in various regions of the world to inform and collect feedback on the manifesto from various communities. BC100+ also aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap that will address critical social and sustainability issues and drive systemic transformation using blockchain technology.
