Former Cowboys Wide manager Michael Irvin drops lawsuit against Marriott hotels

According to court documents, Michael Irwin dismissed his lawsuit against Marriott Hotels.

Irwin’s legal team filed $100 million libel lawsuit v. Marriott International after Irwin was suspended as a Super Bowl sportscaster following an allegation of misconduct by a Phoenix hotel employee.

Last week, the lawyer for former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irwin says he will release a video his client interacting with a hotel employee in Arizona next week, likely on Monday as new details allegations against a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame published in court documents.

Irwin’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, described the video this week during a press conference, saying the meeting between Irvine and the woman referred to in the lawsuit as “Jane Doe” lasted less than two minutes and said nothing inappropriate happened.

On Friday, a federal judge in Dallas ordered Marriot to release video of the meeting “unchanged” to Irvine’s legal team.

On Friday, Marriot filed a motion in federal court asking to protect the privacy and safety of hotel employees and guests by preventing the video from being released to the public.

“Contrary to the public statements of Irvin and his lawyer, the facts will eventually show that Irvin made unwanted sexual advances on an employee of the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown hotel, an employee who did not know who Irvin was and who, in reporting his heinous behavior, did not seek to nothing but to be free from further persecution.” Lawyers for Marriott wrote a statement on Friday..

However, on Monday, Marriott gave Irwin’s team a copy of the video and promised to release any other relevant footage on Tuesday.

In his lawsuit, Irvin said he returned to the hotel, said a brief hello, shook hands, and spoke to several fans, including a woman, for several minutes before leaving for his room one. The lawsuit alleges that a hotel manager gave “false information” to the NFL, accusing Irwin of inappropriate behavior towards a hotel employee.. Irvine was then “shockingly woken up by a security team” and escorted out of the hotel “without any explanation or question,” the lawsuit says.

McCathern complained that Marriott did not properly provide him with the video of the meeting. McKetern said he was allowed to watch a short video on Tuesday at a Marriott attorney’s office, but was not allowed to film or make a copy.

Marriot International has not yet responded to NBC 5’s requests for comment.
