Jack Daniel’s Inaugural Black Achievers Awards celebrate Miami’s rich black entrepreneurial spirit

SOUTH FLORIDA – Ten Miami-based changemakers have been honored with the inaugural Black Achievers Award 2023, awarded by Jack Daniel’s for outstanding work in their fields. The awards ceremony and mixer was created to recognize and celebrate black South Florida professionals, community organizers, and activists who have made significant contributions to the South Florida community.

Jack Daniels, in partnership with local black-owned women’s businesses, organized and produced the presentation of the award. The event ended Black History Month at Miami’s historic Hampton House.

The awards honored Jack Daniel’s commitment to highlighting and celebrating black professionals and entrepreneurs in the South Florida marketplace. The event was chaired by LaJuan Mak, Regional Multicultural Manager – Brown-Forman Headquarters. The invitation-only event featured a vintage black excellence theme that naturally blended with the ambience of the Hampton House decor.

The event is organized by three companies owned by black women.

The Black Achievers Awards event was hosted by the Black Miami Women Entrepreneurs Joint Venture. This is Alexis Brown – Founder SocialXChange; Ernisha Randolph – Founder Sweet Butter Hospitality Group; and Janie Tate, publisher Hi-Lo News.

“We are delighted to come together and celebrate our colleagues and new rising stars in South Florida. There are so many comments about the brain drain, loss of talent and talented millennials leaving South Florida, but it contradicts it,” said Alexis Brown, founder of SocialXChange. “The Black Achievers Awards celebrate the very best of Black South Florida and our contributions.”

Three black female millennial entrepreneurs joined forces to leverage their resources and use their expertise in their industries to bring attention to black entrepreneurial leaders and social activists in South Florida.

“We celebrate Black entrepreneurship and excellence and celebrate our Black entrepreneurial ecosystem, which has undoubtedly impacted the South Florida community,” said Ernisha Randolph, founder and CEO of Sweet Butter Hospitality Group and owner of We Shuckin Restaurants.

The three women want to focus on people in the community who go unnoticed but deserve recognition.

“This is a great opportunity to work with great people to honor the memory of drug addicts in our community. I love that Jack Daniel’s strives to be a brand that cares about the community and strives to be included in it by sponsoring the Black Achievers awards,” said Janey Tate, founder and CEO of Tate Media Enterprises, which produces Hy-Lo news. . “The mission of Hy-Lo News is to share the untold stories of Black South Florida. This collaboration allows us to bring this work to life. I look forward to hosting more events like this in our community through this partnership.”
