Firefighters pulled a moose out of a frozen pond

Firefighters in Colorado staged a rescue operation Friday night.

An elk fell through the ice of a frozen pond and was trapped.

According to the Evergreen Fire Department, people passing by called 911 to report that the moose was struggling. Evergreen is a small town southwest of Denver, near the start of the mountain range.

The rescue came from two firefighters. One helped break the ice, while the other made several attempts to get the animal out.

Once freed, the moose sat on the ice for a few seconds, dazed, before standing up and turning around to look at his rescuers.

As a result, the animal ran away.

Male moose can weigh over 700 pounds, while adult females weigh around 500 pounds.
