Family says sole survivor of Orange County warehouse fireworks explosion returned home from hospital
ORLANDO, Florida. – The sole survivor of the December explosion and fire at a fireworks warehouse in Orange County left the hospital for home.
Lindsey Tallaphous’s father says the woman has been discharged from the Orlando Regional Medical Center. He says she still has a long way to go in terms of recovery, but returning home is a big step and he thanked the ORMC team for keeping her alive.
Tallaghus, 27, was at fireworks company Magic in the Sky near Central Florida Parkway on Dec. 1 when an explosion caused a large warehouse fire. Five people were saved that night, but only Tallaghus survived.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by her friends, Tallaghus suffered burns to 62% of her body. She had to undergo dialysis and fall into a coma to help her recover.

Last week, on a GoFundMe page, the family reported that Lindsey was walking and talking.
Tallaghus’s father called her recovery a miracle.
“I used to not be a spiritual person, but now I am,” he said.
Brother Tallaghus told News 6 that she was moved to the intensive care unit for two weeks and then moved to a rehab center for about a week. She finally left the hospital on Friday, he said.
“We’re amazed at her progress,” he told News 6. “(She’s) still pretty traumatized from being sedated for so long and waking up with her friends gone, but she’s really amazing.”
Orange County Commissioner Maira Uribe says the company did not have permission to store the fireworks in the warehouse. Online records show that the warehouse had permission to store furniture and there was a request for permission to supply the pool.
