The airspace was closed in the area of Le Havre, Montana, near the US border with Canada.

The FAA said the directive is “effective immediately until further notice.”

Montana Republican Rep. Matt Rosendale tweeted that an “object” had been sighted over Montana.

“I am in direct contact with NORCOM and monitoring the latest issue over Le Havre and the northern border,” Rosendale tweeted before the FAA lifted the no-fly order. “Airspace closed due to an object that could interfere with commercial air traffic – the Department of Defense will resume efforts to monitor and land the object in the morning.”

Rosendale later tweeted that airspace had been reopened and that he “will be in touch with Department of Defense officials and sharing more information as it becomes available” because “Montanese deserve answers.”
