Drive-in theater in downtown Austin temporarily closed after robbery

The Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-In Center in downtown Austin is closed for at least the next couple of days after they say a burglar made off with 80 percent of their equipment.

According to a Facebook post, the drive-in theater believes someone hacked into all 4 of its projection trailers and gutted them sometime between Sunday night and Wednesday morning this week.

“They took almost everything. It will not be easy to recover after that, ”the message says. “We are devastated. I am devastated. It took 13 years of hard work and sacrifice to build what was taken overnight.”

Blue Starlite says its Muller location is open and they hope to reopen at least one public movie screen and a private screen by this weekend.
