Don Lemon sulks at CNN as he cries about what his co-hosts are doing: report

Don Lemon is on the island, sulking and feeling “offended” since returning to the ratings-contested “CNN This Morning” last month, according to a report released Monday.

The former primetime anchor was suspended after remarks he made that portrayed women over 50 as past their “heyday”.

The comments were intended to insult Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, but they were widely interpreted as an attack on all women over a certain age.

Lemon had to complete mandatory “formal training” as part of his return to CNN’s February 22 morning show.

Weeks after the drama unfolded, the 57-year-old cable TV host celebrated a birthday. If Monday’s report is accurate, he wasn’t happy.

Aaron Johnson of RadarOnline said he spoke to people “close to the situation” who said Lemon is not a happy camper.

“Don Lemon was sulking on the set of CNN This Morning and feels he’s ganged up on by his co-hosts Poppy Harlow and Caitlin Collins,” Johnson said.

“Sources close to the situation tell RadarOnline.com that tensions on the set of the ratings morning show have not improved over the past couple of weeks following Don’s row over remarks about Nikki Haley,” the post reads.

“Don is acting like he’s a victim,” a source told the gossip site. “He is very quiet backstage. He mopes around the place like he’s been hurt.”

Should CNN fire Don Lemon?

Meanwhile, another source said that Harlow and Collins formed a special bond as their co-host classified them and the other women as ticking clocks on a collision course with early ineptitude.

“Poppy and Caitlin have become friends and the bond between them is stronger than ever,” the source said.

“While they publicly took Don at his word that he was truly sorry for what he said, the reality is that the relationship between the three of them ended a few weeks ago,” the source said.

Another person told RadarOnline, “There’s a movement going on inside CNN and it’s not supporting Don.”

“There’s a lot to be said for the strength of two women who have risen through the ranks. It’s not that they don’t like Don – they do and they don’t find him completely offensive – but they also recognize the strength of their position,” the source said.

In mid-February, Lemon said something on the show that would likely get anyone else fired in response to Haley’s suggestion that the country needed younger leaders.

Lemon’s obvious contempt for women reared its ugly head.

“She says people, you know, politicians or whatever, are not in their prime,” Lemon said. “Nikki Haley is not in his prime right now. I’m sorry. When it is considered that a woman is in her prime – at 20, 30 and maybe 40 years old.

When asked to confirm this ridiculous claim, the man we were all told is a serious journalist cited a simple Google search.

“That’s not my opinion,” Lemon said. “If you google ‘when a woman is in her prime’ you get 20s, 30s and 40s. I’m not saying I agree with it.”

This comment was preceded by months of awkward moments and reports of internal unrest on CNN’s lowest-rated morning show in a decade. While the drama has publicly died down, Lemon is reportedly still facing retribution. He is said to be bad at it.

Although this information comes from unidentified sources, according to the gossip site, the gist of the report – basically the allegation that Lemon is moping and posing as a victim – is easy to take at face value.

Everything we know about him supports the view that he made his bed and now lies in it in a state of despair.

Not too long ago, Lemon enjoyed high ratings in one of cable TV’s most popular timeslots. But the bigger they are, the more they fall.

His fall was quick, and apparently he has yet to reach the bottom. At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if Lemon showed up to work and found his door badge deactivated.

While he was away, his morning show worked better, so CNN CEO Chris Licht could presumably let him go without compromising the company’s bottom line.
