Desoto County FEMA DRC closes

ARCADIA, Florida. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Desoto County closes Thursday.

The center was scheduled to close in January but was expanded due to demand in DeSoto.

The last day to apply for FEMA assistance was January 12, but disaster recovery centers such as those at Brewer Park in Arcadia remained open to help people.

DRC helps people complete the paperwork process and directs them to other resources that may still be available.

More than 7,000 households have been approved for three-year group flood insurance through disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Jan and Nicole, according to the latest FEMA data.

For those who still need help with the process or checking the status of your application, you can go online or call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.
