DeSantis trolls Biden and asks if Djokovic can enter the US by boat

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wrote a letter to President Biden on Tuesday about his “unfair and unscientific” denial of Novak Djokovic’s entry into the United States because of his vaccination status, urging the president to grant an exemption.

Tennis champion Novak Djokovic has been denied entry to the US due to mandatory vaccinations for foreign travelers arriving in the country. Although Djokovic confirmed last month that he had applied for release, that did not happen. Because of this, he will not be able to participate in tennis tournaments in Miami and Mineral Wells.

Florida Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio asked Biden’s administration granted a waiver and allowed him to compete in the US, but now Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is stepping into the fray.

DeSantis called the rebuttal “unfair, unscientific, and unacceptable” in a March 7 letter, urging Biden to “reconsider.”

“The time has come to put aside the politics of the pandemic and give the American people what they want – let them play,” the letter says, explaining that Djokovic has already visited the states twice since the pandemic “without any clear health incidents.”

“I also do not understand why, even under the terms of your own proclamation, Mr. Djokovic could not legally enter this country by boat,” the Florida governor added. “Please confirm no later than Friday, March 10, 2023 that this mode of travel to Florida will be permitted.”

DeSantis also pointed to the hypocrisy of Biden’s rule, as he allowed thousands of “unvaccinated migrants to enter our country across the southern border.” The letter goes on to say that the mandate to vaccinate foreign travelers “is not based on logic, common sense, or any genuine concern for the health and well-being of the American people.”

“The only thing keeping Mr. Djokovic from participating in this tournament is your administration’s continued enforcement of the erroneous, unscientific and outdated requirement for COVID-19 vaccinations for foreign visitors wishing to visit our great country,” the letter reads. ultimately asking Biden to grant the athlete’s request for release.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently states that “Non-citizens who are not immigrants who wish to enter the United States by air must show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the United States from another country.”

“If you are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you will NOT be allowed to board a flight to the United States unless you meet the exclusion criteria under the Proclamation and the CDC Amended Order,” he adds.

Notably, the Biden administration rejected a GOP proposal to abolish the coronavirus vaccination mandate for foreign travelers, bizarrely claiming that it would be “unscientific”.
