Dallas Sign Defenseman Sam Junqua

FRISCO, Texas (February 22, 2023) Dallas signed defenseman Sam Janqua after a trade with the Houston Dynamo for Junqua’s Right of First Rejection, both clubs announced today. In response, FC Dallas sent Dynamo $75,000 of its 2023 General Appropriations (GAM).

Junqua, 26, moved to Dallas after spending four seasons with the Houston Dynamo. He was selected eighth overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and signed with Dynamo on January 22, 2019. He has made 51 appearances in all competitions for the club, including the MLS regular season, the Lamar Hunt Open Cup, the League Cup and the 2020 League Cup. MLS is a spin tournament. Junqua also played the 2019 season for the USL Rio Grande Valley FC Championship team where he made 17 appearances.

The Saratoga, California native spent his college football career at UC Berkeley, starting in 45 of 68 games for the Bears. Junqua was awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2018 All-Pac-12 Conference.
