Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson will be at the Capitol building to speak Tuesday night.

Johnson was invited as a guest by Republican Congressman Lance Gooden, whose borough includes most of east Dallas.

“I want to thank Congressman Gooden for inviting me to participate in the State of the Union address and for his continued partnership on issues that affect our common constituents,” Mayor Johnson said in a statement. “And I’m honored to have this opportunity to represent the people of Dallas in Washington as President Biden addresses the nation.”

President Joe Biden will deliver his second State of the Union address Tuesday evening, seeking to overcome national pessimism.
