Dallas County MP Livestreamed Roadstop on TikTok, Revealing Personal Information of Driver, Claims Lawsuit

DALLAS – The Dallas County Sheriff is not responding to questions about a lawsuit alleging that a sheriff’s deputy broadcast a live traffic stop on social media.

The prosecutor said that this happened two years ago, and only recently filed a lawsuit.

Whether the deputy was punished is unclear because the sheriff is simply not considering the charges.

The lawsuit was filed this month, but the alleged incident took place two years ago.

The applicant’s lawyer said the deputy broadcast the traffic stop live, showing his client’s personal information to more than 100 people.

Attorney James Roberts said his client was driving at night as early as March 2021 and was pulled over by a Dallas County sheriff’s deputy on I-20 near Balch Springs.

According to the lawsuit, the deputy broadcast the traffic stop live on the social media app TikTok.

“Our client alleges that there has been a violation of his privacy rights,” Roberts said.

Roberts said the deputy stopped his client for speeding, which his client denies.

The live broadcast allegedly showed his client’s driver’s license, and the lawsuit documents included a screenshot of the license.

Roberts said that someone found his client on the Internet, using information from the license to alert him that he was live.

“That’s the really scary part, you know, we know that someone can use this information because someone actually used this information,” Roberts said. “Fortunately, they are using this information to alert our client to what happened, and not for some nefarious reason.”

FOX 4 contacted the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for a response, wanting to ask them to confirm if the person named in the lawsuit is a deputy, to know if the deputy is still with the department, and if he was punished after the alleged incident.

Despite the fact that two years have passed since the alleged misconduct, no one from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office has responded to numerous attempts to comment.

“We have made a disclosure request because we know there has been an internal investigation. We were not provided with the results of the investigation, but we know because the sergeant who led the internal investigation subsequently emailed our client that the officer was disciplined for the violation. social media policy,” Roberts said.

Roberts said his client was suffering from anxiety following the incident.

He also wonders if this MP did the same to other Dallas County drivers.

“How many other people have received their information over the Internet when an officer, a Dallas County Sheriff’s Officer, broadcasts this information live? Because I would venture to suggest that this is not the only officer doing this, ”he said.

The lawsuit provided a screenshot of an email purporting to confirm an internal investigation, but the sheriff’s office did not respond to our questions.
