Intellectual reported on Wednesday that several administration officials wanted the tape to reflect that Bedingfield, who was called out for dodging questions about the Biden classified papers scandal, was a member of Biden’s inner circle who concocted “Putin’s price increase.”

Steve Guest, Special Communications Adviser to Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz, stressed that White House officials insisted on shifting the source of the bad messages to her.

“Many White House staffers want the world to know that Kate Bedingfield is to blame for the idiotic “Putin price hike” nonsense,” Guest tweeted. “LAUGHING OUT LOUD.”

Matt Whitlock, a communications specialist who has worked for several GOP Senate offices, called the topic of discussion “a pretty gimmick” but said it “didn’t have any impact – the majority kept blaming Biden’s policies for raising gas prices.”

Bedingfield, who initially left the Biden White House last summer before changing her mind and being convinced to stay in her role for interim terms, has made headlines multiple times during her tenure as Biden’s chief public affairs officer.

In August 2021, as the administration was gaining momentum, Bedingfield stated that Biden “never dodge from answering questions” amid a deadly and botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, even as the president faced criticism for dodging questions and not holding press conferences.

In March 2022 Bedingfield hit the headlines again after she claimed the president didn’t lie about his son Hunter Biden, didn’t make money in China and other foreign business dealings during the 2020 presidential race.

“We fully support the President’s comment,” Bedingfield said. “And I would like to point you to a report about this that mentioned statements that we made at the time that we passed on to the Washington Post, which was working on this story. But, as you know, I don’t speak for Hunter Biden, so I can’t say more about that.”

“This is a distraction that they want to pass off as hypothetical … to distract from the fact that they are trying to ram a candidate who, as I said, is going to change the composition of the court against the will of the American. people,” said the then deputy chairman of the election campaign.

It’s unclear where Bedingfield will head next, but it could revisit the Biden campaign ahead of a successive 2024 presidential election.
