Arrest Made for Attempted Homicide and Weapon Charges

On January 8th, 2023, Trenton Police received a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of 102 Oakland Street in Trenton, NJ, reporting five (5) rounds fired. The incident was found to have occurred in the immediate vicinity of 8 Eisenhower Avenue. Upon arrival, police found two (2) victims with gunshot wounds in a parked vehicle in front of 8 Eisenhower Avenue. Both victims were immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for medical care, and they were listed in stable condition.

The suspected perpetrator, identified as Charles Jones, had been seen shooting from the second-floor apartment at 8 Eisenhower Avenue. It was observed that the front window of Apartment 2A had visible bullet holes, indicating the source of the gunfire. Jones had fled the location before the arrival of the authorities.

Shooting Response Unit Detectives took over the investigation and later issued arrest warrants for Jones, who was eventually taken into custody on May 3rd, 2023, in the Bronx Borough of New York City. Currently, Jones is being held in the Bronx awaiting extradition to New Jersey to face charges.

It is worth noting that charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
