A fire destroyed the historic Nutt House Hotel in Granbury.

An overnight fire destroyed a historic building in the Hood County town of Granbury, southwest of Fort Worth.

Several fire departments teamed up to put out the blaze at the Nutt House Hotel in the town square early Thursday morning.

Rescuers had to block off the streets of the square so they could use ladders to fight the fire from above.

The flames engulfed most of the roof and burned for several hours before firefighters managed to bring the situation under control.

The hotel building, built by the Nutt brothers in 1893, was closed for major repairs.

It has been designated a Texas Historic Landmark.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

No injuries were reported.
