A 19-year-old girl has been arrested after allegedly using her mobile phone to record men using the restroom at the Galleria mall, HPD reports.

HOUSTON – There is a certain level of privacy when using the toilet, even in public malls.

Nineteen-year-old Thomas James Parison is behind bars after Houston police said he violated this safe space and attempted to record other men using the restroom at the Galleria mall.

We spoke to several people outside the mall about the allegations, including Patrick DeBose, who says he’s been with the Galleria for 10 years and says he’ll be more vigilant in the restroom.

“This is very shocking to me. I mean, sometimes you don’t even feel safe walking to your car,” DeBose said. “I just wish people didn’t do things like that.”

Parison followed the man to the Nordstrom restroom last Friday, according to Houston police. A witness is said to have seen Parison place a cell phone under a counter containing an unsuspecting man.

“You can’t insult someone else without their knowledge,” said Tim Flanagan, who was walking alongside.

Officials say the witness called 911. Parison tried to flee, but investigators say the witness was able to push him so police could catch him.

The story caught the attention of several buyers by surprise.

“There must be boundaries. There must be respect,” said Jonathan Ruiz. “I mean, I can’t believe people would do something like that.”

Parison has been charged with invasive videotaping and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. He has a $5,000 bond which, if released, indicates conditions that he cannot contact the victim or return to the store.
