21-year-old woman beheaded in Waller County by alleged new husband: ‘pieces and pieces have been recovered’

Waller County authorities are continuing their investigation after a 21-year-old woman was found in a home on Wednesday afternoon, reportedly decapitated.

According to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, at around 4:18 p.m., family members called police home. Sheriff Troy Guidry says the woman was found in the second home behind the residence on the 200 block of Oak Hollow Boulevard, west of Magnolia.

PREVIOUS HISTORY: The woman’s body was found decapitated at the Waller Co., the suspect turned out to be the victim’s husband.

“It was part of a dismembered body and a dwelling covered in blood. So it was a terrible scene at best,” Guidry says.

The woman lived in a small house with her husband, reportedly named 21-year-old Jared Deekus, whom she had just married in October 2022. Officials say they lived behind the man’s parents’ house and she worked at a local business in the area.

According to Guidry, the man’s father immediately called the police when they found the victim. “They are [the parents] approached the suspect [husband] and when they saw that there was something wrong with them, they went to the house they lived in, and that’s when they found what they found,” he says.

The family was reportedly detained and transferred to the sheriff’s office when the police arrived. When the husband was brought back to the sheriff’s office to testify, he confessed.

Sheriff Guidry says evidence shows a kitchen knife was used in the murder. “Everything happened on the territory. All the details have been found and presented as evidence.”

“There have been previous calls about riots, but nothing of the… level of violence,” he added.

Deekus will be charged with murder, officials said.

Waller County Judge Trey Duhon, who allegedly married the couple, stated on his Facebook:

“I’m sure many of you have heard of yesterday’s incident in Oak Hollow, Waller County, in which a young man was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife.

This concerned a young couple that I married in October 2022. In the short time I spent with them, they were a very nice young couple. Like many of you, I am very saddened and shocked by the news of this tragic event, and I pray for all their families.

Out of respect for the families, I removed my photo with the couple and the post announcing their wedding, primarily due to the tactless nature of some of the comments made under the post.

This case will now be taken to our court system and I am confident that the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and the Waller County District Attorney’s Office will ensure that justice is served.”

Investigators say it’s still an open investigation.

“It’s a terrible scene and it will change both sides of these families,” Guidry says.
