$2 million worth of jewelry stolen after concrete wall breached at North Texas mall

MESKITE, Texas. Someone at the Mesquite mall broke through a concrete wall in an abandoned Sears and then broke into a jewelry store, where they stole about $2 million worth of jewelry, police said.

The robbery took place at the American Jewelers store in the Town East Mall, where the jewelry store shares a wall with the old Sears premises. The mall is located near Interstate 635 and East City Boulevard.

An employee arrived on Saturday morning and discovered the theft, although police did not say what time they thought the break-in occurred.

When the police arrived, they found that someone had entered the old Sears store and breached the concrete wall between the Sears store and the jewelry store, the police said in a statement.

According to police, Shitrok was also “kicked out to break into a jewelry store.”

A store employee told police that a “large amount of jewelry” worth about $2 million had been stolen inside the store.

Police were still working with mall security to get video from security cameras inside the mall.

The suspects have not been identified, and it is not yet known if more than one person was involved in the theft.

The American Jewelers store is located on the first floor of the Town East mall and shares a wall with the old Sears premises on the northwest side of the mall.

Sears at Town East Mall was the last remaining Sears store in North Texas until it closed in 2021.
