You can name a cockroach after your ex and watch it being fed to an animal at a Texas zoo.

This Valentine’s Day, rejected lovers can turn their heartache into a wildlife positivity.

The San Antonio Zoo is now in its fourth year of launching the “Name Me a Cockroach” campaign, which allows people to symbolically name a cockroach, rodent, or vegetable after their ex and watch it being fed to the animal.

Those who donate to the campaign will receive a digital Valentine’s Day card from the zoo thanking them for their support and a short video of the animal eating a cockroach, rodent or vegetable. Donors also receive an additional Valentine’s Day digital postcard for their ex informing them of the news.

The zoo said a $5 donation gives a vegetarian the name of an ex, $10 gives the donor rights to a cockroach name, and a $25 gift is required to name a rodent.

For those who made life difficult, the zoo also has a $150 upgrade option in which the first 20 purchases will receive a special behind-the-scenes video.

Proceeds benefit the nonprofit San Antonio Zoo “to secure the future of wildlife in Texas and around the world,” officials said.

“The time of love and hate is back,” said Tim Morrow, president and CEO of the San Antonio Zoo. “Whether it’s a nasty romance, a job break, or a collective dislike of the 2022 trend, the Cry Me Cockroach fundraiser is here to help you put that negativity behind you!”

Morrow added that cockroaches, rodents and vegetables are already part of the typical animal diet, and although they are small, “they really are the unsung heroes of the food chain this Valentine’s season.”

The campaign is open until February 14th.

The San Antonio Zoo reported that the most popular exes during the 2022 campaign were Jacob and Sarah. More than 7,000 people from all 50 states and 30 different countries attended the event, officials said.

Many other zoos hold similar events, including the El Paso Zoo in Texas and the Bronx Zoo in New York, where people have been letting people name their cockroaches after exes for years.
