Yale Climate Change Awareness Program seeks Public Voices Fellows – Citizens’ Environmental Coalition

Yale Climate Change Awareness Program Seeks Public Voices Fellows

The Public Voices Climate Crisis Fellowship is a year-long initiative to accelerate the ideas and influence of 20 new and needed opinion leaders working at the intersection of climate change, environmental communications and social justice. After successful scholarships in 2020, 2021 and 2022, we are pleased to offer the scholarship again in 2023.

Despite overwhelming scientific evidence that the world is warming and that people are to blame, and the dire consequences are already being felt around the world, climate action has not kept pace with the magnitude of the problem. However, federal action on the issue in the United States is improving with the support of the current administration. And many U.S. states, cities, companies, and various civil society organizations are defending past hard-won climate and environmental victories while calling for even more ambitious action. Beyond our borders, countries around the world are defending the Paris climate agreement and advancing its goals since COP27 in Egypt last year. But more attention and action is needed.

We need better and faster ideas from a more diverse group of people from all walks of life, including those most affected by the effects of global warming and therefore most likely to see new solutions and imagine a brighter future. The Public Voices Climate Crisis Partnership is a collaboration between The OpEd Project and the Yale Climate Change Awareness Program (YPCCC) and is part of the OpEd Project Public Voices national initiative to change who writes history.

Participants will receive extraordinary support, skills and mentoring to ensure their ideas shape a wider public debate. All participants must commit to publishing at least two written papers (hopefully many more) or to prepare and present publicly other forms of thought leadership (TED-style talks, podcasts, etc.) during their internship.
