Woman killed in crash in northeast Austin

The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in northeast Austin.

Police said officers responded to a one-vehicle accident at around 10:52 a.m. on January 28 at 10800 Harris Branch Parkway.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the SUV was traveling with a passenger, Flores Cifuentes, 65, when the car left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Flores Cifuentes was taken to the hospital, where she died on 30 January.

The incident is being investigated as the sixth fatal crash in Austin in 2023, resulting in six deaths in a year. As of the date of this accident in 2022, there have been a total of four fatal accidents resulting in five deaths.
