Winning $2 million lottery tickets sold in Oakland and San Jose

Several Bay Area lottery players are starting the weekend a little richer.

Two winning lottery tickets worth $2 million each were sold in Oakland and San Jose, the California Lottery said Thursday.

One of the winning tickets was purchased at Way Fay Market and Liquor on 8th Avenue in Auckland. A group of four players bought the ticket together, according to lottery officials. The representative of the group was identified as Van Le.

The other winning scraper was purchased from The Wine Fountaine in San Jose. The lottery organizers identified the lucky winner as Teddy Young.

Both scratch tickets cost $2 million.

These Bay Area lottery players weren’t the only lucky ones this week.

A player in the San Diego County Lottery won $1 million on a scraper bought from a Vallarta supermarket in National City.

In Fresno County, Luis Cruz won $1 million with a scraper purchased from a Fastrip store in Mendota.

At Sherman Oaks, Ramon Torres won $1 million on a ticket purchased from Union 76 on Van Nuys Boulevard.

Those five winning lotteries total $7 million, according to the California Lottery.
