Warmer weather, but rain? Here’s what we’re expecting to round out 2022

Temps climb back well above normal to end 2022. Rain chances return to the area for some as well.

DALLAS — The coldest air of the year is in our rear-view. Tuesday morning brought our last freeze of 2022. A big warming trend continues the rest of the week.

Here are the main takeaways:

  • Big warmup to the 60s and 70s second half of the week
  • Rain possible for eastern areas Thursday – Thursday night
  • Dry and warm New Year’s Weekend

Warmer weather coming

Wednesday will bring an increase in the breeze out of the south. In fact, Wednesday will be pretty breezy in North Texas. This helps bring warmer weather along with added clouds and slightly higher humidity. Highs are going to climb to the upper 60s Wednesday and 70 degrees Thursday!

Late week rain chances

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms return to the forecast mainly Thursday and into early Friday morning. Severe weather is not likely and not everyone will see rain. For DFW, rain coverage looks fairly low, but will increase as you head east of DFW with higher rain coverage in East Texas over into Louisiana.

Any rain will move out of North Texas during the day Friday with a dry New Year’s Weekend in store.

New Year’s Weekend and beyond

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will be quite different from Christmas weekend! Both days will be warm and dry. Any NYE plans look just fine.

Next week will begin warmer than normal with better chances for showers and storms to return to the area. There could be some stronger storms or even a severe weather chance for some on Monday, but details are far from certain.

Keep checking back for updates!
