Video shows man trying to kidnap barista through driveway window, suspect arrested

According to authorities, in Washington state, the camera filmed a man who tried to kidnap a barista in a diner.

The Auburn Police Department has reached out to the public to help identify the suspect by sharing on Twitter a video of the kidnapping attempt that took place early Monday morning.

In the video, a man in a pickup truck holds out his hand to a barista, and the barista can be seen trying to pass something to him. According to police, the suspect was trying to smuggle the victim “with the help of a loop fastener” through the glass.

Police claimed the man was beaten by the barista before he left.

On Tuesday morning, police said they had made the arrest in the case “after significant support from the community.”

According to Auburn Police Department public relations officer Colby Crossley, “The suspect was apprehended at his home in Auburn and we were able to quickly search his vehicle and found evidence linking him to the incident.”

Although the department intends to provide more details about the incident in the coming days, Crossley said the identity of the suspect has not yet been made public.
