Video shows Amazon delivery driver hitting dog at home in Maryland

A family in Calvert County, Maryland, is mourning the loss of their pet after an Amazon delivery driver was seen on their home CCTV camera backing down their driveway, hitting and killing the family dog, Starr.

The incident took place at Troop Ct. in Sunderland, Maryland on February 21 at around 5:57 pm. Video captured from the family’s home security camera shows an Amazon delivery driver pulling up to the driveway as the dog walks around the yard.

Eventually, the Amazon delivery driver starts backing out of the driveway and the dog is visible behind the rear wheels of the van.

CCTV footage shows the delivery driver pulling over, driving forward again and leaving the house without getting out of the van to alert homeowners.

Starr’s owner says the dog died minutes after the incident. The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Starr’s owner also says Amazon has been contacted about the incident. At first, the family says they were offered a $5 loan and free wind chimes.

The family was contacted again Sunday, and Amazon offered to pay for Starr’s veterinarian expenses and provide the family with a free mailbox to put at the end of the driveway.

Starr’s owners say they asked about rear view cameras, sensors and more. Amazon says all delivery vehicles are not equipped with such safety features.

The family has created a GoFundMe in Starr’s name to do justice to her and improve the security of all supplies.
